Welcome to Nova at Home

Welcome to Nova's gathering for the week of April 26. Here in this online space, you are joining in with hundreds of other people in the South Bay and beyond as you enter into a time of worship in your own home.

Here is what we have put together for this week:

  • Announcements (3 min.)
  • Worship (17 min.)
  • Message (21 min.)
  • Discussion
  • Prayer
  • Sharing With Others

There is a special children's video lesson available. This lesson will be most effective if you look over the provided lesson guide ahead of time in order to lead your children through some questions and activities.

We hope you find this online gathering to be a blessing. We look forward to seeing you all face-to-face very soon.

Discussion

Take some time to think about and discuss these questions with your spouse, small group, family, or friends.

Read Isaiah 40:1-5, 9-11, and 28-31.

1.  What is the difference between “tired” and “weary?”

2.  What are your current strategies to cure weariness?

3.  In the three ways to wait for the Lord, which of the three resonates the most with you? Why?

  • Obey - I don’t seek my will, but God’s will.
  • Relax - God’s time and schedule, not mine.
  • Expect - Because of God in my life, I have hope.

Read Matthew 11:28-30.

4.  When Jesus says, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,” what is he inviting us to?

Prayer

Romans 12:10-12 reads, “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

What a privilege it is to be able to connect with God through prayer! And what a blessing it is to bring others into that connection by praying with them and for them!

Let’s pray for the ministries of Nova:

  • For those involved with Nova at Home: God, be with those involved in writing, editing, and filming for our online presence. Give them creativity, clarity, and unity as they work together in these times to both bring Nova together and also to help share your love with our world.

  • For outreach ministries: God, provide for and bless our partnerships with others in the South Bay through Feeding the Hungry and the pop-up food bank. Provide leaders and servants for these ministries, and keep them safe and protected as they go out to serve those who are in need and share the good news of your love.

  • For our children and student ministries: God, guide those who are leading and teaching our children and youth. Grant them vision and insights as they work to keep families and students connected to your Word and growing.

  • For small group leaders: God, for both our established groups, as well as those that are getting started, give group leaders wisdom and help them leverage technology as they connect with people in new ways. Guide them as they lead their groups to connect with each other, with Your Word, and as they welcome new members.

Sharing with Others

We love that so many people have shared gatherings like this with their friends and family already. We encourage you to continue doing so. You can follow Nova on Facebook and Instagram and share images and links directly from those accounts.

Use #NovaTogether to see all the different ways people are gathering in their homes to worship or to fellowship with their small groups.

We have also combined the main videos together as an alternative way to view them or to share them with someone who might have a harder time with the website.
